178-1: U.S. Alone Votes to Reject Kyoto Accord
In a move that isolated the U.S. from informed thinking across
the globe, G.W. Bush and Co. refused to participate in the Kyoto
climate accords. The United States is the world's largest producer
of greenhouse gases, yet the Bush administration pledged -- once
again -- only to propose an alternative to Kyoto. They will not say
when.
Undoubtedly, the administration's ties to the oil, gas, and
nuclear power industries has had an influence in this posture. So,
basically, the world's environment is being sold up the river in
order that the cynical opportunists who stole the Whitehouse could
get rich.
