To better understand how sharks use hydrodynamics to swim we will experiment with aerodynamics.

Aerodynamics:

The science dealing with the motion of air and other gases. The dynamics of bodies moving relative to gases, especially the interaction of moving objects with the atmosphere.

Paper Airplane Experiment

You will need:
1) one 81/2" x 11" sheet of Paper

Fold a paper airplane and fly it. This will begin to explain how sharks swim. When we compare the shape of a DC-9 airplane to a Shark in a side view, we see that they are almost identical in shape. The paper airplane you made uses its wings to glide through the air just as the shark uses its fins to glide through the water.
